16 Hypothesis Tests
Hypothesis testing addresses the compatibility of data with a stated claim. In practice it is especially important not to confuse a p-value, a significance level, a test power, and a posterior probability for the hypothesis.
Later this chapter will collect likelihood-ratio tests, toy studies of power, and common misinterpretations of statistical significance.
