A camera at a wormhole: the light of two universes

Камера издалека видит всю другую Вселенную в круглом окне, а небо вокруг него изогнуто в кольца; при $\sin\psi_c=b/\sqrt{l^2+b^2}$ радиус окна $\psi_c$ зависит только от расстояния до горловины, и движущаяся камера может измерить $b$.The Morris-Thorne wormhole is a solution of Einstein's equations for a static, spherically symmetric space without a horizon; it requires a negative energy density. In the equatorial plane the surface $r=b\cosh(z/b)$ joins two universes, the narrowest circle has radius $b$. Light moves along the geodesics of this surface: a ray with the impact parameter $p<b$ crosses the throat, a ray with $p>b$ turns back. A camera far away sees the whole other universe in a round window, and the sky around it is bent into rings; with $\sin\psi_c=b/\sqrt{l^2+b^2}$ the radius $\psi_c$ of the window depends only on the distance to the throat, so a moving camera can measure $b$.

Note
The rays are computed exactly (elliptic integrals, as in the solution of the exercise); the sky is our own procedural model (galaxies, stars, nebulae; the pair of interacting galaxies comes from the N-body calculation of the book). Parameters: $b=1$ (the unit of length); for the energy estimate $b=1$ km.
